Free travel with a rollator on weekdays during the daytime

From the beginning of 2023, people with reduced mobility who need a rollator can travel for free in local transport around the Kotka region at quieter time periods. This right is applicable to travelling in low-floor city buses, when the person who needs a rollator gets on the bus on weekdays from 9 am to 2 pm. In these buses, boarding with a rollator is arranged through the middle door.

This is a pilot project that will last during the year 2023. The aim of this new benefit is to increase the mobility opportunities of people who need rollators, as well as to provide them with a better service accessibility.

According to the current schedule, the benefit applies to all shifts operated by Pohjolan Liikenne Oy on weekdays from 9 am to 2 pm, including all services on lines 1–37B inside Kotka and the Kotka–Hamina route, with the following exceptions:

  •     high-speed line 1M Kotka–Hamina, which is run by regional buses and
  •     line 34B Karhula–Laajakoski, which is run by minibuses.
